Solo Cello by Tatsuki Sasanuma

Tatsuki Sasanuma started learning the cello at the age of 9. He won 1st prize in the Salzburg-Mozart International Chamber Music Competition in 2013, 2nd place in the string division of the 12th Tokyo Music Competition and a prize in the cello division in the 83rd Music Competition of Japan. In June 2017, he had a solo recital at Gakushuin University in the presence of Their Majesties the Emperor and Empress of Japan. Currently, he is enrolled at the Paris Ecole Normale Conservatoire, is the guest principal cellist of the Tokyo Symphony Orchestra, and also a member of the Quartet Amabile, La Luce String Octet and Trio Rizzle. He uses a cello made by C. F. Landolfi (Munetsugu Collection).
He will play two solo pieces for cello “The Swan” and “Cello Suite No. 1 in G Major, BWV 1007 Prelude” as requiem for Mr. Kanchi Yamamoto, his dear friend who recently passed away from childhood cancer.

Koji Mizutani, a notable art director leads the MERRY PROJECT, which aims to promote “Smile is the universal communication”. He is also recognized for his direction of the Opening Ceremony for Beijing Olympics 2008 by opening 2008 umbrellas of smiles as an artistic advisor.
“What is MERRY for you?” Asking this simple question, he has visited 35 countries around the world to take photos of “smiles” and receive “messages” through interviews, from more than 50,000 people.
He will express MERRY through videos, children's dances, and umbrellas of smiles, as a communication art. It will be a special opportunity for you to reflect on your own MERRY.

Welcome Reception

Taking place on the evening of June 22 (Sat), 2024, this cocktail-style reception is there to welcome all guests to the Congress as well as to Yokohama. The fee is included in the registration fee, but priority is given to those who pre-registered for the event.

The Social Gathering on Day 3 will be held in the room “G2” at 1st Floor of the congress venue, PACIFICO Yokohama North.

The program with authentic Japanese entertainment will feature live dance performance by Japanese traditional Geisha from Niigata, music performance by koto player - Leo and energetic style of group dance by Yosakoi So-ran team, Wakka. Please join and enjoy together!

Furumachi Geisha in Niigata

Since the Edo period, Niigata has been known as a red light district along with Gion in Kyoto and Shinbashi in Tokyo. It conveys the “art'”, “elegance (iki in Japanese)”, and “heart” of the 200-year-old Niigata Furumachi-Hanamachi. Ichiyama-ryu in Niigata is the only school in Japan that has a history of over 120 years, and is highly praised for its artistry.

LEO

Born in Yokohama in 1998 as Leo Konno, he started playing koto at the age of 9. At the age of 16, he became the youngest ever winner of the Grand Prize and the MEXT Award at the National Japanese Music Competition in Kumamoto which made his major debut in 2017 at the age of 19. He performs as a soloist with conductors such as Sebastian Weiglé and many others as well as with the Orchestras.

Yosakoi So-ran Wakka

Yosakoi was born in Kochi Prefecture 70 years ago. “Wakka” is a team which attracts people with a unique style that combines the performance of Japanese musical instruments and Yosakoi dance. With concept of “a new but nostalgic Japanese festival”, they have been expanding their activities nationwide as well as overseas.
